About

With the assistance of the federal, state, local government and community agencies, more than $45 Million of public funding has been poured into downtown Gulfport. After two long years of preparations and red tape, work is well underway.

  • New infrastructure is replacing the dated and damaged water and sewer system, allowing for increased capacity to service a completely built-out downtown.
  • Approximately 65 buildings have received façade grants, totaling $4.425 Million – the largest façade program in the nation’s history.
  • A $7.6 Million streetscape program, which will restore historic conditions of a planted boulevard on 25th Avenue and replace sidewalks, street furnishings and lighting, will begin in March 2009.
  • The City of Gulfport is building a $25 million municipal complex building, which will house the police and municipal courts, and is completing renovations to downtown properties to house other city departments.

The City’s commitment to downtown has never been stronger and there have never been as many opportunities and development incentives available as there are today.
