Gulfport Main Street is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the rebuilding and revitalization of downtown Gulfport. The organization was formed by the City of Gulfport Council and Administration following the downtown’s devastation by Hurricane Katrina.
The Main Street Four-Point Approach to downtown revitalization serves as Gulfport Main Street’s guide. By focusing on organization, design, economic restructuring and promotions simultaneously, the district has begun redeveloping in a sensible manner that ensures long-term viability. The Four-Point Approach has been used in numerous cities across the country, and is a tried-and-true approach to revitalization.
Main Street is governed by a Board of Directors consisting of community and business leaders, downtown stakeholders and citizens who have an interest in downtown’s revitalization. Please visit the “Board & Committees” page for more information.
With the assistance of Mississippi Main Street and the National Trust for Historic Preservation, Gulfport Main Street is lighting the way for downtown’s rebirth.
